Cowboys & Indians
Mounted decal prints, each print approx. 10x10 feet, 2004.

Created when I was a new transplant to the Midwest, this work is inspired by my fascination with Kansas City’s role as a crossroads location from East to West coasts and North and South boundaries of North America. The images of baby boys dressed in Cowboy and Indian costumes is metaphorical to Kansas City’s past and current roles in American history. The boys (actually the same boy dressed in each costume) are playfighting with various paired objects relating to Americana– love/money, snips/snails, apples/oranges.
