“Printmaking is a SYNTHESIZER medium. It functions between and in collaboration with many worlds – it is low art and high art, it is easy and it is difficult, it is hands-on and it requires removal of the artist, and it relies on an original to produce multiples. With its built-in process of infinite variety, printmaking is specially situated...[it synergizes] commerce, product, design, community, accessibility, and artisanship. If printmaking is the synthesizer, then paper, ink and the plate are some of the instruments that plug into the system to create a work of art.”
